BEGGARS in Multan are found in abundance. Recently their numbers have gone up may times. The moment one comes out of his home, he is hounded by a group of beggars who follow him like a shadow.

Hale and hearty people have taken to begging. Small children and boys too have adopted this profession. Perhaps they are trained by their guardians to beg.

These beggars operate in groups and sometimes they commit serious crimes. Some of the beggars enter houses quietly without begging for alms at the door. If they are not noticed by inmates, they run away with whatever they can lay their hands on.

The government should check this social evil as early as possible.
