No favouritism

Teachers are our spiritual parents, therefore they must treat all students equally. When a teacher makes any student as his favourite, then others tend to become victims of inferiority complex. All students may not be perfect, so instead of concentrating on a stronger one only, a teacher should promote weaker students too. When a teacher prefers only one student, then he or she cannot motivate others and eventually the students’ self esteem is affected.

Teachers are said to be our spiritual parents as they guide us, teach us and make us what we should be. For parents, all children are equal and there is no concept of stronger, weaker or good and bad for them. A teacher should also maintain equality in the classroom to maintain the dignity of that title.

When they do not get the attention of a teacher, the students feel humiliated. Students might think that they are unable to perform those tasks which the student, whom the teacher considers his favourite, can do.

Eventually they lose their confidence and withdraw into a shell.

Every student may not be perfect. Instead of concentrating on the best student, a teacher should promote weaker students too. Yes, the better ones need appreciation but the weaker ones need motivation more. A teacher’s motivation can bring a lot of improvement in students. Favouritism discourages others from doing their best. Teacher’s pet syndrome is highly destructive for the self-respect of students.

Young World

I am fond of YW, I have been reading the magazine since last year. It provides us with good stories, mind boggling riddles and wonderful jokes. Also, various articles on different and interesting topics improve our general knowledge.

Therefore, I am thankful to the YW team for enhancing our reading skills as well as vocabulary.

The weekly weird

This is regarding the “The weekly weird” section (YW, March 5). It feels quite amazing to know that there are people in this world who have unusual habits or phobias that we can’t think of; for instance, Mr Hans Raj shocked the world with his habit of eating gravel and sand and not having any health issues.

On the other hand, where most of the people are in love with cakes of all types, Rachel Lee can’t stand the sight of cakes and if she accidentally goes through such a shop or bakery she start shivering. The news was really unbelievable and we thank the YW for bringing the best to its readers.
