MIRPURKHAS, Nov 11: At least 200 prisoners in the district prison, Mirpurkhas, have been vaccinated for Hepatitis-B by a team of the district health department.
As many as 20 under-trial prisoners had been declared as Hepatitis-B carriers during the tests and have been advised by the physician, Dr Balchand, to shift them to the Central Prison, Hyderabad, for proper treatment and indoor health facilities.
The EDO, Health, Mirpurkhas, Dr Fazal Illahi Yousfani, arranged preventive vaccine for Hepatitis-B for the inmates of district prison. Liver Function Tests (LFT) of 20 under-trial prisoners was also carried out.
The superintendent jail, Mirpurkhas, has informed the higher authorities as well as the superintendent, Central Prison, Hyderabad, about the advice of the physician.
REMAND: The Taluka police produced three accused — Mohammad Bilal Awan, Mohammad Riaz and Mohammad Yousuf — in the court of joint civil judge on Monday.
The court awarded a four-day remand for the three accused, who are said to be members of a gang of traffickers.
The accused were arrested by the Taluka police a day back, near the Saman village, when they were headed towards Digri from Mirpurkhas in an auto-rickshaw. Police seized about two maunds of charas which they were carrying in tin cans.
The police received a tip-off about the trafficking of Charas from Peshawar to here.
The Charas was first brought to Hyderabad through a coach and then it was loaded in a rickshaw to bring it to Digri taluka.
The police intercepted the rickshaw near Saman village about 15 kilometres from here.
The police arrested Mohammad Bilal Awan and Mohammad Yousuf of Peshawar and Mohammad Riaz of Lahore and seized several maunds of Charas.
Police claimed that two of their accomplices, identified as Dunia Gul and Noor Hassan Nohani, managed to flee from the spot.
MAN INJURED: A man, Raho Bhand, was seriously injured in an armed clash between Mari and Bhurgari tribesmen, near Pithoro, in the limits of the Shadi Palli police station on Monday night.
Raho was taken to the Civil Hospital Mirpurkhas from where he was referred to Hyderabad.
No FIR had been registered with the Shadi Palli police station till the filing of this report.
SECTION 144 IMPOSED: The district Nazim, Mirpurkhas, Pir Shafqat Hussain Shah Jilani, has banned the entry of outsiders under section 144 CrPC in the premises of examination centres during the examinations of PTC, BEd, CT, matriculation, FA, BA, BSc, BIT, and post-graduate programme of the Allama Iqbal Open University in the district.
