KARACHI, Nov 10: Four persons died in separate accidents in different parts of the city on Monday.

Police said that a speeding van (LSC-634) of a private security company knocked down a motorcyclist Sardar Dawood, 25, on Sharea Faisal in PECHS, within the limits of Ferozabad police station. The motorcyclist died on the spot while his brother Fazalur Rehman was injured.

The body and the injured man were shifted to JPMC, where the injured was provided treatment.

Following the accident, area people became enraged and roughed up the security guards. However, police only managed to arrest Saqib, 18, from the spot and booked him of creating law and order situation. Police also claimed to have arrested the errant driver, Shahnawaz.

According to police, the victim was a labour councillor of Korangi Town.

In Orangi Town’s Sector-5, a young man was knocked down to death by a speeding minibus.

Police said that Tasawur Hussain, 20, was hit by a minibus of route (N-5). The errant bus driver escaped from the spot. The injured was taken to a private hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

An elderly woman died in a hit-and-run accident in Block 13-D of Gulshan-i-Iqbal. Police said that Nazia, 60, was returning home when she was hit by an unknown vehicle.

In another accident, Habibullah, 30, was knocked down by a passenger coach near FTC on Sharea Faisal. Police said that the victim was taken to JPMC, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The errant driver of the coach (PE-3480) escaped from the spot.
