KHAIRPUR: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah on Sunday inaugurated a housing scheme executed by an non-governmental organisation, the SOS Children’s Village-Pakistan, in collaboration with the the provincial government near the Shah Abdul Latif University along the old National Highway. Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Shah said that the neglected children who could not have their parents’ love and affection for any reason could be rehabilitated and made useful citizens if they were provided a home-like environment as well as proper education and training. He assured the NGO of his government’s continued financial and other required assistance.

Former federal minister and senator Javed Jabbar, who heads the NGO’s advisory council, told the audience that such children naturally develop inferiority complex and a deep sense of deprivation and society was under obligation to address the issue. He said that a good number of children educated and trained at SOS villages in 17 cities and towns of the country were now leading a successful life.

Mr Jabbar appreciated the Sindh government’s assistance and the cooperation extended to the NGO by MNA Nafeesa Shah and Sukkur Commissioner Mohammed Abbas Baloch.
