SIALKOT: Federal Ombudsman’s One Window Facilitation Desk for Overseas Pakistanis became operational at Sialkot International Airport on Tuesday.

Senior Law Adviser and Grievance Commissioner for Overseas Pakistani Federal Ombudsman Secretariat, Islamabad, Hafiz Ahsaan Ahmed Khokhar, formally launched the newly established office during a ceremony at the airport.

Speaking on the occasion, Khokhar said: “This is the seventh facilitation desk set up here after Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Quetta, Peshawar and Multan for overseas Pakistanis.

Later talking to newsmen, he said there had been an exemplary working relationship between the officials of federal ombudsman secretariat and 13 other agencies, which were providing maximum relief to overseas Pakistanis.

Khokhar said the ombudsman secretariat was striving to resolve complaints and problems of overseas Pakistanis on a priority basis.

He said the secretariat dealt with 270,463 complaints during 2013-15 and provided them with relief, saying that “less than one per cent of plaints are forwarded to the president of Pakistan”.

Sialkot International Airport Limited (SIAL) Chairman Malik Muhammad Ashraf, Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry SVP Muhammad Sarfraz Butt and senior officials of Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF) were also present on the occasion.
