KARACHI, Nov 7: City Nazim Naimatullah Khan said on Friday that the city government would not succumb to any pressure to increase meat prices during Ramazan.

In a statement the Nazim said he had convened a meeting for Saturday of the Naib Nazim, the DCO, EDOs and union council Nazims to chalk out a strategy against the ongoing and illegal strike by meat sellers. He said a plan would be finalized to ensure supply of meat to people.

He criticized the protest demonstration organized by meat dealers outside his office, saying the district government would not compromise on any matter that affected the lives of citizens.

The Nazim said he had offered to resolve the issue through talks, but meat dealers had rejected his offer.

The Nazim reiterated that no price increase would be allowed in the face of strikes and protest demonstrations as he was determined to protect the interest of the people and would do his best to provide all facilities to them during Ramazan. —PPI\APP
