The X-Files reopen!

After all these years, the X-Files have been reopened!

Mulder! Scully! Skinner! Aliens! The gang reunited for the first of six all-new episodes last week.

Here’s what you need to know: Joel McHale, a long time fan of The X-Files, burst onto the scene as Tad O’Malley, an internet talk show host who contacted Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully (Gillian Anderson) about an abductee. This abductee, Sveta (Annet Mahendru) said she’s tested on, can read minds and has alien DNA. Tad also took Mulder to see an alien spaceship because why not. So, the aliens aren’t trying to colonise Earth, its human, again and specifically the government. They’ve been behind it all, using alien technology. Everything Mulder thought he knew was wrong.

But soon Sveta changed her story and claimed Tad paid her to lie. The government got to her. As she fled town, she was destroyed by an alien ship.

Thus, Skinner reopened The X-Files and brought Mulder and Scully back in.

Matthew Perry not in Friends reunion

If you were one of the millions of people celebrating the news of a two-hour Friends reunion, we regret to dampen your spirits with this update.

Matthew Perry will not be attending the highly-anticipated event, due to rehearsals for his West End play, The End of Longing.

His representative, Lisa Kasteler, confirmed in an email that he would not be able to make it. “Matthew may tape something for the tribute,” she wrote. “In other words, this is not the reunion people have been hoping for.”

So far, remaining cast mates Jennifer Aniston, David Schwimmer, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow and Matt LeBlanc are all expected to attend the reunion episode.

The popular sitcom ran between 1994 and 2004, and became one of the most popular TV shows of all time. The series was nominated for 62 Primetime Emmy Awards, winning the Outstanding Comedy Series award in 2002 for its eighth season.

Céline Dion bids final farewell to husband

Céline Dion and her children said a final goodbye to husband and father Rene Angelil at his national funeral held in Montreal last week.

The heartbroken Grammy winner held hands with her five-year-old twins as she entered the Notre-Dame Basilica, while 14-year-old son Rene-Charles escorted his maternal grandmother, Therese, into the service.

Rene died on January 14, 2016, after a long battle with throat cancer, just two days before his 74th birthday. Throngs of mourners watched as the service was broadcast outside the Basilica — the same church where the couple exchanged vows in 1994 — and flags across Quebec waved at half-mast.
