KARACHI, Nov 5: Two more persons were shot dead Wednesday evening in Liaquatabad in the gang-war, continuing for the last four months, between two rival groups of underworld that has claimed seven lives so far, police said.

The victims, identified as Ameer Ali, 35, and Siraj Ahmed, 35, were sitting near Subhani Hospital off S. M. Taufeeq Road in Liaquatabad No.3, when attacked, the police added.

A police official said that Ameer Ali lived near the hospital and his friend Siraj had come to see him. He said that two armed men riding a motorcycle sprayed them with a volley of shots and sped away. Both the victims suffered multiple bullet wounds and their bodies were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

The official claimed that the deceased belonged to a group of underworld.

On Oct 18, three persons were shot dead near Firdous Shopping Centre in Liaquatabad in a similar manner.

A senior police official, requesting anonymity, said: “The incident appears to be a gang-war as all of the victims belonged to one group being led by an underworld don.”

Police sources said that two bomb explosions that rocked a highrise — Kawish Crown Plaza — located on Sharea Faisal also appeared to be linked to the gang-war.

The plaza was targeted twice, in hardly two months. The first blast had taken place on July 11 at the main entrance of the building early in the morning killing a security guard and an unidentified man. The other explosion, on Sept 19, damaging offices on the 10th floor of the building but without causing any casualties.
