Microblogging website Twitter temporarily went down for a few hours on Monday, with both the website and mobile application inaccessible to users.

"Something is technically wrong," an error message read on the Twitter website when users attempted to login to their accounts.

Some Twitter users' feeds were visible despite the service being affected.

It was unclear what the issue is, but the message read: "We're going to fix it up and have things back to normal soon."

Tweetdeck, Twitter's other official client was also not working, The Independent reported.
