LAHORE: Punjab Labour Minister Raja Ashfaq Sarwar says the ordinance 2016 prohibiting child labour at brick kilns has been enforced and on violation, kiln owners and other people responsible for it will have to face imprisonment, fine and closure.

He said this at a meeting on Thursday.

The labour department has issued a notification for the constitution of district labour committees to monitor the implementation of the law. The committees will consist of DCOs, DPOs, ACs, SDPOs and officials of the special branch.

ACs and SDPOs will inspect brick kilns daily with the help of the special branch. In case of violation, a case will be registered against the owner and six-month imprisonment and fine up to Rs500,000 may be imposed.
