KARACHI, Dec 27: The Karachi city government has decided to activate the Department of Civil Defence at the union council level to meet any eventuality.

This was decided in a meeting held on Thursday to review the affairs of civil defence under the chairmanship of Nazim of the city, Naimatullah Khan.

The meeting was attended by DCO Karachi, officers of Army Supporting Team, and officials of Civil Defence.

The participants of the meeting decided to ensure maximum participation of the general public at union council level.

It was also decided to improve the functioning of the sirens installed in various areas of the city and fix new sirens at required areas.

The meeting decided to give proper training to the representatives and volunteers from general public in civil defence to meet any eventuality and meet the expectations of the general public.—APP
