PESHAWAR: Chairman of Pakistan Red Crescent Society, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, retired Lt Gen Mohammed Hamid Khan on Thursday inaugurated a warehouse at Bab-i-Qadeem, Nowshera, which had the capacity to store 3,000 packages of non-food items.

On this occasion, he was told that the warehouse was constructed over six kanals with the collaboration of German Red Cross (GRC).

He was also informed that the structure was built keeping in view earthquake safety guidelines.

The chairman said that a proper warehouse was necessary for timely response to any disaster.

He discussed quick response to the Oct 26 earthquake and said that it was possible because of the presence of small warehouses of the organisation in most vulnerable districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Head of office GRC, Hannilore Schnelzer, on the occasion said that she was impressed by the construction of the warehouse.

She said that GRC would continue its collaboration with PRC to access the vulnerable segments of the province.
