KARACHI, Dec 28: IGP Sindh Syed Kamal Shah on Friday ordered a vigorous operation cleanup against dacoits, terrorists and other criminal elements in Karachi and in the interior of Sindh.

Addressing the DIGs of Karachi, Hyderabad, Larkana, Sukkur and Mirpurkhas during a meeting at the Central Police Office, the IGP called for preparation of an effective action plan for the purpose.

The IGP asked all the DIGs to take steps to redress the grievances of the oppressed. He said the oppressed must be provided justice and oppressors should be shown no leniency.

He called for providing maximum possible help to citizens and ensuring justice to detainees at police stations.

Syed Kamal Shah also called for rooting out unscrupulous elements from the department and bringing good and hardworking officers to the forefront.

The IGP directed that effective strategy be chalked out for improvement in law and order and the traffic system and strong measures be taken to curb crimes in the interior of Sindh, and those involved in heinous acts be taken to task.

He informed that a package was being worked out for the welfare of police personnel whereby they would be paid minimum salary of Rs6000.

He stressed the importance of establishing Madadgar “15” in all the districts of Karachi and said this should be done as soon as possible.

The IGP said the recruitment process in the police department would be made transparent. The personnel to be recruited would include 4,129 constables besides 1500 ASIs to be recruited through the Public Service Commission. He said that some 30,000 applications had been received for 1500 vacancies of constables. — APP
