KOHAT: Police on Sunday arrested a man allegedly involved in the murder of two community workers.

They said that the accused, Syed Zubair Shah, had killed Kailash, son of Noor Islam, and Adnan Masih in Abdullah Colony for dumping garbage in front of his house on Dec 12, 2015. The killings had sparked a protest by the community in the cantonment near the CIA checkpost. Officials of the Riaz Khan Shaheed Police Station arrested the accused and have sent him to Kohat prison on the orders of the court.

PROTEST: The Bangash tribe belonging to Kohat and Orakzai Agency on Sunday blocked the Kohat-Hangu highway at Kacha Pakha area to record their protest against the execution of Shia cleric Ayatullah Sheikh Baqir al-Nimr in Saudi Arabia.

In this regard, a rally was taken out from Sher Kot which culminated at Kacha Pakha. Allama Syed Noor Agha and Maulana Naseem Abbas led the rally.

Speaking on the occasion, they criticised the world media, rights organisations and the UN for keeping mum over the hanging of Ayatullah on political basis. They said that he was hanged because he wanted the Saudi government to withdraw troops from Bahrain and end the 32-nation security alliance. The highway remained blocked for over an hour.
