Nobody likes those who criticise others

This is with reference to the story “Nobody likes those who criticise others” by Manahil Atif (YW, November 21, 2015). After reading the story, I felt that the story depicts an everyday situation as many people are in the habit of criticising others for no reason.

They think that they have the licence to insult anyone, anywhere. On the other hand, they can’t accept it when someone shows them their real self in the mirror; they start fighting or criticise them endlessly.

So I think we should stay away from such people and try not to criticise anyone as this is a bad habit that can hurt feelings; it is always good to say a few nice words for others rather than criticising or hurting anyone.

Grandparents

The beautiful, charming, strong and affectionate relationship that grandchildren and grandparents have is really grand. This relationship is a colourful and exotic gift of happiness wrapped with unconditional love and tied with the ribbon of care.

Relations are always important but some are unique, everlasting and sweetest of all. Like, every other grandchild, I was also intensely attached to my grandma. She was one of the most influential persons in our house and she would use that position to protect me from the scolding of my parents.

She used to give me pocket money secretly, she made me feel important, transformed me in a positive way, and gave me confidence and a deep insight on getting along with others.

But now when she is no more with us, I miss her desperately ; I miss all those wonderful moments, those hugs and cuddles. Above all, her prayers — may her soul rest in peace.

Weird vegetables and fruits

This is with reference to the cover article “Weird vegetables and fruits” compiled by Benazir Raz (November 21, 2015). All the information was really new to me and I didn’t realise we had such incredible varieties in vegetables and fruits around the world. It is true that the more we explore any field, the more we learn new things that were never known before.

Apart from that, I find the information on “Beh” or lotus root really interesting as I have seen that root vegetable at a departmental store but never knew how it would be cooked.

I appreciate the writer for including it and would advice her to do a similar piece of writing on the local weird and little known vegetable and fruits originating in Balochistan, Punjab, Sindh and Khayber Pakhtoonkhwa. I am sure the readers will love it too!
