KARACHI: Three people, including a minor girl, were injured in a cracker explosion in a Lyari locality on Saturday, police said.

They said that unidentified assailants threw the cracker at a place frequented by gangsters of the Baba Ladla group in Ghulam Shah Lane within the jurisdiction of the Kalakot police station.

However, the explosion left three passers-by wounded, who were taken to a hospital for treatment. The suspects managed to escape while firing into the air, said Lyari SP Aftab Nizamani.

The SP suspected the involvement of gangsters of the Uzair Baloch group in the attack, which was against their rival group led by Noor Mohammed alias Baba Ladla.

The police attributed fighting between the rival gangs over collection of protection money in the area.

The law-enforcers carried out targeted raids in the locality and detained a few people for interrogation.
