OKARA: Schedule for re-polling in the district has been issued by the office of district election commission.

Re-polling in the Okara Municipal Committee ward no 17 comprising Garden Town, Bajwa Colony and E Line would be held on Dec 17. Polling here was postponed when some miscreants entered the polling station and snatched ballot boxes after beating up staff on Oct 31.

Meanwhile, Union Council (UC) 80 Bhagwanpura ward no 3 Nawankot and UC-115 Phullan Toli Kalan ward no 6 Sahibawala would re-elect their general councillor, chairman and vice chairman.

The Punjab Election Commission, Lahore issued the re-election schedule of remaining constituencies in the district.

Election in UC-111 Qadirabad was not held as a candidate was shot dead a day before the election on Oct 31.

There would be a re-election in UC-14 Thatha Lakhan ward no 2, UC-15 Lashari ward no 4, UC-28 chak 31/2L ward no 6 Sarai Klasson, UC-32 chak 36/A4L ward no 1 at chak no 21/4L, UC-33 chak 33/4L ward no 3, UC-48 39/2L village ward no 1 and 40/2L, UC-55 ward no 2 of Koda Mehlu village, UC-74 ward no 3 chak 56/AD and chak Gopal Gee, UC-82 ward no 5 Probinabad and UC-113 ward no 4 Phularwan Wazirki.

Last date for filing nomination papers is Dec 15. They would be scrutinised the nest day on Dec 16, the last date for filing an appeal against the nominations is Dec 17, last date for deciding the appeals by tribunals is Dec 18, withdrawal of candidates Dec 19, revised list of candidates along with their symbols would be published on Dec 20. Polling would be held on Dec 30.
