GUJRAT: The provincial home department has approved establishment of the long-awaited Dinga City police station by upgrading the city check post to the level of a station.

The existing Dinga station will be converted into the Dinga Saddar station.

The long-standing demand of local police for establishment of two other police stations in the tehsil -- Shaheen Chowk station by bifurcating Civil Lines station and Mungowal station by bifurcating Kunjah station – was yet to be approved.

With the approval of the new police station, the district will now have 23 stations for a population of three million people.
