Police, villagers clash

NAUSHAHARO FEROZE: A police team comprising personnel from Naushahro Feroze and Hyderabad police stations raided a house in Rasool Bukhsh Bhagat village of Kandio taluka on Monday to arrest an alleged kidnapper but had to leave after facing resistance from the suspects’ family and other villagers.

Suspect Abdul Ghaffar was wanted by police in cases registered against him at the Bhitai Nagar police station for allegedly kidnapping his sister who had married Zahid Hussain, belonging to the Hisbani tribe, of her freewill.

The police raided the house of the woman’s family and tried to arrest the suspects but the inmates along with a mob of 25 people offered stiff resistance and forced the police team to leave the village without arresting the suspect.

An FIR against the violent villagers was registered at the Mohabbat Dero police station but no arrest was made till late in the evening.
