20 members attend Punjab PA session

LAHORE, Oct 29: Only 20 members, six of them from the opposition, were present when proceedings of the Punjab Assembly started 35 minutes behind the schedule here on Wednesday.

Immediately after recitation from the Holy Quran, MMA’s Arshad Baggu, on a point of order, said certain laws, rules and regulations were needed to run a state, institution or house.

He said to manage affairs of Pakistan all political forces had in 1973 given a unanimous constitution to the country. But, he regretted that whenever any adventurist general took over power through a military coup, he bulldozed the constitution.

Even today, he said, a grade-22 officer was forcibly occupying all powers in the country as the national and provincial assemblies were constrained through the LFO.

At this the opposition members stood up and started chanting slogans ‘go Musharraf go’ and ‘no LFO no’, before walking out of the house.

When the chair asked Revenue Minister Gul Hameed Rokhari to go and bring back the opposition members, he refused to do so, saying he could not reconcile with the opposition after hearing their abuses.

Then the chair requested Food Minister Chaudhry Iqbal to do the job who acted accordingly.
