By-election in NA-218 on Jan 18

ISLAMABAD: The Elec­tion Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued the schedule for the by-election to be held in NA-218 (Matiari-cum-Hyderabad) on Jan 18 next year.

The seat fell vacant after the death of Makhdoom Amin Fahim, president of Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians.

According to an ECP spokesman, nomination papers will be filed on Dec 10 and 11 and the verification process will be completed by Dec 17.

Candidates can file their appeals to tribunals against decisions of returning officers till Dec 21 and tribunals will decide on their appeals till Dec 23.

Candidates can withdraw their nomination papers until Dec 28 and on the next day the final list of candidates will be published.
