KARACHI, Oct 29: Three persons died in separate traffic accidents in different parts of the city on Wednesday.

A young man died in a traffic accident in Quaidabad on Wednesday.

The police said that a pedestrian, Rehmat Tanveer, 45, was knocked down by an unidentified speeding vehicle in Quaidabad. He was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where he died during treatment. The victim was a labourer.

A five-year-old boy died in a traffic accident in Korangi late Tuesday night. Police said that Sikandar was crossing the road when he was hit by a speeding jeep. The boy was taken to the JPMC where he was pronounced dead. The police apprehended the driver and impounded the vehicle.

In the Defence area, Shakeel, 28, died in a hit-and-run accident in Phase-V.

The police said that Shakeel, a domestic servant at a bungalow was returning home after offering Travee prayers when he was hit by the vehicle. He was taken to the JPMC where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

SHOT DEAD: Unidentified persons shot dead a rickshaw driver in Ittehad Town, Mochko, on Wednesday night.

Police said that Ikramullah, 26, was shot by unknown persons who intercepted him in his rickshaw, shot him and fled.

He was taken to a nearby private hospital from where he was referred to the Civil Hospital. However, he died on way to the hospital, police said.
