TIMERGARA: The Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), an international NGO, has announced to restart its operations in the district headquarters hospital here.

The INGO has been working in the hospital since 2009, but it withdrew its international staff when the government didn’t issue a non-objection certificate to it on Sept 13.

A press release issued here the other day by Prue Coakley, the organisation’s project coordinator, said: “Despite having to withdraw our international medical specialist staff on Sept 13 due to administrative processes, we are pleased to announce that those issues are now resolved and all international staff will be returning to Timergara soon.”

In 2016, he said the INGO would embark on ambitious plans to rehabilitate the drainage system and management of medical and non-medical waste within the hospital compound. He said the organisation provided round-the-clock emergency medical care and maternal and child healthcare in the hospital. It has currently 12 international staff, the majority of whom are medical specialists, and 350 local staff, Prue Coakley maintained.
