NAUSHAHRO FEROZE: Former Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz MPA Syed Aftab Ali Shah, and 50 party activists including three local government candidates were booked under various sections of the Anti-Terrorism Act at the Kandiaro police station on Thursday.

SHO Ghulam Ali Sahito told the media that the former MPA and 22 of his nominated associates including [candidates] Saleem Agro, Zafar Solanti and Majid Sahito, and 28 unknown suspects were booked for regularly holding protest demonstrations, blocking thoroughfares and indulging in illegal acts in the town for many days.

He said a case against them had been registered but no arrests made so far. Since they ignored all requests to meet police officers and explain their positions, the FIR was registered on the complaint of ASI Ghulam Sarwar Lashari against them, the SHO said.

On his part, the former MPA said registration of the FIR was aimed at influencing the elections. He said PML-N workers could not be harassed by such tactics.
