DADU: Former Sindh chief minister Liaquat Ali Jatoi has expressed the fear there might be bloodshed in the second phase of the local government elections in the district.

He said that PPP candidates were campaigning surrounded by armed persons and policemen.

Briefing newsman at the village of Naban Khan Loond on Wednesday, he claimed that a large number of criminals along with other armed persons had arrived in the town to support the PPP candidates and sabotage the poll drive of their rivals.

Mr Jatoi was accompanied by former zila nazim Karim Ali Jatoi, Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) central secretary general Syed Zafar Ali Shah and former MPA Naban Khan Loond.

He said the district returning officer was supporting the PPP candidates and despite orders of the Supreme Court not to change location of polling stations, he had made many changes.

He said posters, banners and placards of his party candidates were removed and PPP candidates were issuing death threats to AIP aspirants.

He appealed to the chief of army staff and chief election commissioner to take notice of the situation and provide adequate security to AIP candidates.
