ISLAMABAD, Oct 25: A joint assessment mission of the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the United Nations Development Programme held a meeting with a group of Members of the National Assembly at the Parliament House on Saturday morning.

The mission was briefed by the MNAs on the institutional reforms aimed at streamlining the organizational structure of parliament and the functioning of its committee system.

The MNAs pointed out the areas like human resource development, computerization, training of women parliamentarians, backup research support and legislative drafting where the IPU and the UNDP could provide technical and financial assistance.

MNAs Malik Amin Aslam, Mr Zahid Hamid, Ms Fauzia Habib, Dr Doniya Aziz, Dr Sher Afgan Niazi and Mrs Tehmina Dasti attended the briefing.—APP
