CHAKWAL: The police have declared 17 Muharram processions sensitive in Chakwal district.

As many as 246 processions would be taken out in the district, which has been listed among the most sensitive districts of Punjab. Besides police, four companies of army have also been called in. “The army personnel would be on a standby to tackle any untoward incident,” a police official told Dawn.

Chakwal administration has banned 45 firebrand clerics who would not be able to deliver any sermon and speech. Among the banned clerics twenty-seven belong to the Deobandi sect while 18 from the Shia sect.
