LAHORE: Former PPP Senator Gulzar Ahmed Khan was laid to rest at a graveyard in Gulberg here on Tuesday.

Gulzar died on Sunday owing to heart and lung problems. He was 80.

A large number of people, including PPP leaders, workers, retired civil servants, social and religious personalities attended his funeral.

Hailing from Dera Ismael Khan, Gulzar joined the PPP in the 1970s. He was considered close to Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto. He remained a federal minister and also served as an adviser to Benazir when she was the prime minister.

Gulzar’s two sons -- Waqar Ahmad and Ammar Ahmed -- were also senators on PPP tickets.
