The speakers said that it was the prime duty of the teachers to prepare the nation for challenges. They said that teachers had forgotten their sacred mission of building the nation. They were only demanding raise in their salaries, they added.

They asked teachers to focus on character building of the new generation.

COUNCILLORS: The members of Timergara village council No. I on Sunday demanded of provincial government to appoint local people on vacant posts of Class-IV employees at the district headquarters hospital and other offices in the limits of the council.

The demand was made in a meeting held here with village council chairman Fazal Hussain in the chair. All members of the council attended the meeting.

The meeting was informed that people of Timergara had allotted land for the hospital and other offices but government appointed people of other areas in those offices.

TIMBER SEIZED: The officials of forest department on Sunday raided different places in Jauzo, Mora Shah, Maskini Darra, Zerano Banda and Denjarai, situated on Pakistan Afghan border, and seized timber worth millions of rupees.

The raids were conducted on the directives of high-ups of forest department to check deforestation in the area. However, local elders and councillors Sarbiland Khan, Wahidullah and Maulana Azizul Haq termed the action illegal and demanded of the district administration to return the timber to its owners.

They said that the seized timber was not for sale but local residents had stored it to utilise it in their houses. Another team of forest officials raided different places in Asbanrr Adenzai and seized a large quantity of timber. The officials said that government had imposed ban on timber smuggling, deforestation and timber transportation.
