QUETTA: Afghan Taliban are reported to have killed six Pakistanis after accusing them of being involved in a robbery in Shelag area of Afghanistan’s Helmand province. The area is close to the Pak-Afghan border.

Official sources confirmed the incident on Tuesday.

The deputy commissioner of Chagai, Khuda-i-Nazar, said he had received information about the killing of six Pakistanis in Shelag area, which is adjacent to Chagai district.

He said the six men had criminal record and they were wanted by Levies force in cases of robbery and other crimes. They had fled to Afghanistan when the assistant commissioner of Taftan launched an operation for their arrest sometime ago.

The sources said that Afghan Taliban had caught the six men when they were allegedly looting passengers on a highway in Shelag area.

They said Taliban had release a video in which bullet-riddled bodies of these men were seen lying in an isolated mountainous area.

Pakistani officials identified the dead as Jamil Ahmed, Mohammad Sarwar, Shah Murad, Qutab Khan (residents of Noshki district), Abdul Basit and Abdul Ghani (residents of Taftan).

Only one body (of Abdul Basit) has been handed over to Pakistan. It is not known when the other five bodies would be handed over to Pakistan.
