NAROWAL: As many as 14 policemen, including an inspector and nine court employees were suspended from service after Lahore High Court Chief Justice Mazoor Ahmed Malik paid a surprise visit to the district courts here on Monday.

Arriving here at 7:45am, the chief justice entered the district courts premises through the litigants’ gate and visited all the courtrooms and the judicial complex.

He expressed his displeasure over lack of security arrangements and cleanliness on the courts premises in the presence of District Police Officer Syed Hashmat Kamal. The CJ also visited the district bar room and met with lawyers.

District bar association president Mian M B Naseem briefed the CJ regarding the problems being faced by local lawyers.

District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Tanveer Akbar also briefed him about performance of judicial officers and problems being faced by them in performing their duties.

The CJ promised to do the needful to resolve their issues.

After the chief justice left Narowal after his short visit, the district and sessions judge suspended nine court employees, including naib qasids and sweepers over negligence in performing their duties and appointed Senior Civil Judge Aasma Tehseen as inquiry officer.

Similarly, the DPO also suspended 14 policemen, including an inspector deputed for the security of the district courts complex over negligence.
