How can the U.K. train Pakistan Police. Is Pakistan like U.K. Can U.K. train Pakistani Politicians, can they train the rest of Pakistan? Our environment is completely different. The Police in U.K. are independent, in Pakistan they are subservient, that is why the Rangers had to to be called in. Our culture, values, ethics, educational background, family values, is different. We as a people lack very basic civic sense. Do vehicles stop at zebra crossings, for pedestrians to cross. Do vehicles even respect the red light at signals? Police in U.K. address a common citizen as Sir, does one expect any civility from a society that has been so badly brutalized by events during the past 25years?

Name any police or detective force in the world that can investigate and solve crimes in minutes... Yes it is Pakistan Police force... All they need is physical exercise training, merit based induction, latest weapons, pay raise and "no political interference"... there you have it a "Rebranded Top Notch Pakistan Police Force"...

Better would be to make Police dept independent likewise Pakistan Army, and they can select the best people who can serve the dept professionally. Allocate the police budget as we do for the Army, and see its results in a year or so. Make the selection process for police similar to Army. I do not see as to why we need help from the UK at this stage, where we need to do so much homework before it. Please allocate our limited resources wisely, and meaningfully.

No matter how much training they get from UK, unless we have a UK style culture and habits, nothing will work in this country. It was better to have the British even after 1947 like we had many British officers and professors etc.

Just hire an IG and 4 DIGs from British Police for 6 months for training upper grade officers and see the difference like we have trained medical consultant from UK in different Hospital. But at the same time we must appreciate our police force who laid their lives against terrorists who had better equipment.

Depoliticize the police, physically they can get training from Zarrar Group SSG and for investigation they can get help from Scotland Yard or any other investigation agency. Unless you depoliticize the police no training will bring any fruitful changes in performance of police.

At last a sensible solution. Policing is about doing a job the army cannot and is not trained to do. There are governance issues to be addressed and this is where you need a police. This is one of the best solutions so far. The standards of the British police have improved a lot in the past ten years so we will be learning the lessons from some of the best.

@Real Zak : This is being treated as a provincial issue really. In Punjab the emphasis is on Turkish services but no one is shouting why only Punjab. Every province should try to do what suits them and as log as they can show results. In governance right now the Sindh governance needs to learn a lot and Punjab is way ahead in this area than Sindh.

Scotland yard is famous for its investigation prowess not torture.
Look at imra farooq case, slowly but streadily will reach its Climax unlike Pak police where everything is leaked in advance

Scotland Yard is a political force. It cannot train Pakistan Police personnel due to its own political issues. SSG commandos would have been better.. Scotland Yard cannot solve their own cases. Its just good in name...

It is obvious that our police force can be a great force with merit based hiring, by minimizing corruption, and by removing fatso's who can't actually sprint 100 meters without fainting.

The British police cannot teach anything new to our police that they do not already know! Whats required is 'honesty and dedication' and above 'non interference' from other sources in the due process of the law!
