Defence Day

THIS is regarding the story “Defence Day” by Syeda Armeen Nasim (YW, September 5, 2015). The thoughts of the writer inspired me to study the importance of the days celebrated nationally.

The story truly depicted the nature of almost all of us who are so preoccupied with ourselves that we hardly pay attention or give importance to the sacrifices of our national heroes. As a Pakistani, we need to be better informed about the important days and events of our country and give them their due importance and respect. Instead of wasting time on Facebook, we should increase our knowledge of Pakistan’s history, national heroes, etc.

THE story “Defence Day” by Syeda Armeen Nasim was very touching. We don’t think about our national holidays in depth and just enjoy. However, if all of us pay a little attention to the importance of our national days, we will feel a sense of awe and pride in the greatness of our heroes and their achievements. We should read about the history of every important day.

Apart from that, there are many historical places in our country, for instance, Minar-e-Pakistan, Badshahi Mosque, Bab-e-Pakistan, Pakistan Monument and so many forts, gardens, tombs and mausoleums. Sadly, fact that we only visit these places for the sake of fun and to take pictures, however, these places bear the marks of the struggles, the lives of the great people of Pakistan so we should read about them and also tell others.

I hope my fellow young readers of this magazine will give more importance to knowing in depth about our homeland.

First aid you need to know

THIS is with reference to the cover article “First aid you need to know” compiled by Ambreen Arshad (YW, September 12, 2015).

I was amazed to see the cover story as the topic ‘first aid’ has never been covered before and we really need to know some of the basics of first aid, like what we should do if we get minor burns or cuts which are very common in everyday life. I really liked the article and hope YW will publish more articles related to this topic.

THE article “First aid you need to know” compiled by Ambreen Arshad was too good. Every child should have the knowledge of first aid as they get hurt accidently while playing. So knowing what to do and how to respond to an emergency situation is really important.

I appreciate the writer’s effort and request that more of such informative and instructional articles are published in the magazine.
