Minister: The Punjab Food Authority acts on hard facts, not fiction, as being portrayed by some vested interests.

Provincial food minister Bilal Yasin said while addressing a press conference here on Thursday.

Flanked by PFA Director General Sajid Mahmood Chohan and Operations Director Aysha Mumtaz, the minister said the authority had collected 54,000 samples during the last 45 days, lodged 1,500 FIRs, collected Rs12.70 million fine and got 450 violators arrested.

“The campaign against adulteration has been launched on Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s order and will only gather momentum in the days to come,” he said.

District and divisional teams have already been formed to expand the campaign to the entire province.

Mr Yasin said details about PFA raids were being uploaded on social media as well to keep the record straight.

He said the authority was meant to ensure provision of quality food, without favour to anyone. The campaign would continue, come what may, he warned.
