KHAR: Scores of people staged a protest demonstration against the lack of treatment facilities for female patients in the agency headquarters hospital in Bajaur Agency here the other day.

The protesters belonging to various areas and including the relatives of patients gathered in front of the office of medical superintendent of the agency headquarters hospital. They came into action after the only lady doctor in the hospital allegedly refused to examine their women patients.

They chanted slogans against the management of the hospital for poor healthcare facilities. Addressing the protesters, the speakers, including Bakht Biland, Bacha Zada, Ali Gul, Rasheedullah and Nadar Khan, said that lack of basic health facilities for women at the hospital had been forcing them to take their patients to other cities for treatment.

They alleged that the lady doctor was not taking interest in examining patients during duty hours so as to lure them into visiting her private clinic. They said that a large number of women coming from different areas were waiting outside the office of the lady doctor for the last several hours, but she did not want to examine them at the hospital.

They claimed that poor management and lack of proper check had badly affected performance of the doctors and other staff of the hospital. “We are not satisfied with the work of the present administration of the hospital,” said Bacha Zada.

The people expressed concern over the shortage of lady doctors and facilities, and said that it was the responsibility of the government and the management to ensure availability of specialist doctors and medicines at the hospital.

The protesters dispersed after senior officials of the health department assured them that all treatment facilities would be provided to them at the hospital.
