BALOCHISTAN: A Levies official and an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) of police were killed in two separate incidents of firing in Quetta and Jhal Magsi districts of Balochistan on Tuesday.

Police sources told DawnNews that unidentified armed men opened fire at a police ASI on Quetta's Sariab road, killing the police officer, identified as Ali Nawaz, on the spot.

The assailants sped away on their motorcycle after the attack, the sources added.

The policeman's body was shifted to Civil Hospital Quetta for postmortem.

Law enforcement personnel reached the spot and cordoned off the area as a probe into the incident went underway.

In another incident, armed men opened fire and killed a levies official in Gandawah, the district head quarter of Jhal Magsi district.

Levies sources said the assailants fled from the scene after committing the crime.

The victim's body was shifted to Gandawah District Headquarter Hospital.

Motive behind the killing could not be immediately ascertained.
