KARACHI: Representatives of public sector university teachers and non-teaching staff held successful negotiations with government officials on Friday after which they announced withdrawing their strike call for Monday.

“The government has agreed in writing that it would implement the earlier agreement according to which the appointment of university registrar and controller of examinations would remain with the university syndicate,” said president of the Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Associations-Sindh chapter Dr Ayaz Keerio.

According to Dr Keerio, the government has also agreed to table teachers’ proposed amendments to the Sindh universities act 2013 on the floor of the provincial assembly.

The meeting with secretary universities and boards Iqbal Durrani was organised at CM House and attended by members of the Sindh Universities Officers Federation.
