I am one of those who love to hate Malala, but a girl with brains and 10 A's in total is a different story altogether. Well done and keep it up.

Congratulations! She seems to have a sound head on her shoulders - not easy to balance activism with studies, not to mention the trauma she must have undergone after the attack. She is going to do great things in the future. I hope she returns to Pakistan in the future and becomes a leader of the country. Sane civilian leaders will be much needed..

Don't get me wrong, I would not belittle or discredit her amazing achievement, but just out of my own curiosity, how true is it that the O and A levels taught in Britain are much easier than in Pakistan? That's what I used to hear all the time when I was doing my O and A levels in Islamabad.

Glad to see this. But since the days we did our A Levels, this is just the equivalent of 6 As and 4Bs. Still a very good score but not spectacular. She will inshallah get into Oxford. Wonder if she wrote Malala on the top of every paper :)

I doubt if these are the actual grades. All of the last two/three years she has been roaming the world and been on media. I wonder when did she have the time to study. GCE or IGCSE are not Pakistani board exams.

Achievement or bestowal? Not jealous though, just curious. It wouldn't give a good message if the beacon of education wouldn't be a straight A student. It's a smaller achievement(read bestowal) compared to the now immensely less valuable "Nobel prize"

@Sadary Yes your doubt has some weight. I cannot understand how can she appear in two mathematics papers i.e. GCSE Mathematics and IGCSE Mathematics. Both are at the same levels but belong to different regions. GCSE applies only for England, Wales and Northern Ireland. IGCSE applies to other regions but nor including Pakistan. In Pakistan we have GCE O levels.

Weldon. Amazing feat. I hope the media does not spoil her life. Especially the western press, they can destroy a person with just one article or a photograph. We Pakistani's and indeed people of good intentions everywhere are proud of her. She will have a very difficult balancing act to play, between people's perception and what she would like to do in life. We of course wish her well.

@Usman, agree with you. Two Maths results from different boards should really only be treated as one. Equalising it for when we did O Levels and A Levels, that is 5As and 4Bs. That's what I got and I am not a genuius. It was a good score but a lot of my other classmates got it. Glad to see her doing reasonably well despite the trauma she suffered.

Malala is a hard work student and it shows how she organises her personal study and exam techniques to get this outstanding results. As a teacher of A level in Humanities and social sciences in London, I can say with my experienced teaching record that it is easy to get A* in Maths and Science but in History and Humanities you need an evaluative knowledge and sharp written skills to obtain A. Malala done extremely well. I hope Malala will continue to upgrade her educational achievements through going to uni because it is now required merit to do something wisely if you have uni experience. You don't have to go to Oxford or any top league university in the USA to learn and understand the world. Karl Marx said to everyone including Malala: 'Understanding the world is not enough, you should change it'. Will Malama be able to change this World? I hope so one day.

This is great achievement. However remember - at 18 she is much older than almost anyone taking GCSE. So her brain is 2 years better developed than the kids these exams are designed for. Besides, being Malala would she have had extra attention and support from her teachers? You bet. So she has had additional advantages others did not. I am not taking her result away from her. She has done very well. But also keep the context into account.

Everybody is going on about how proud they are of malala and how she is a true daughter of pakistan. What they fail to notice is that unlike many of the other pakistani students, she didnt even consider taking pak studies. Some daughter! And i highly doubt that these grades are real. Well, they can be considering shes 18.
