KOHAT: MPA Ziaullah Bangash and administration of the government girls degree college, KDA, here have filed complaints with police against each other following altercation and alleged manhandling.

KDA police said that like previous years the problem of shortage of seats again surfaced at the degree college, which led to the beating of staff allegedly by the brother, nephew and bodyguard of the MPA.

“The MPA and senior clerk Hakeem of the KDA college for women have filed written complaints against each other in the police station concerned, which are under consideration of the prosecution branch whether to turn them into proper FIRs or dispose them of,” police official Fazal Naeem told Dawn.

Sources said that the MPA along with his bodyguard and supporters reached the college and beat up the staff for refusing to accept submission forms of applicants on the last date set for the purpose.

Senior clerk of the college, Hakeem, and junior clerk Ziauddin told mediapersons that they just asked the MPA to talk to the principal after which they would have no objection to accept the forms.

They said that the MPA with few parents came to their office and asked them to accept the forms of some girls for admission. The clerks also showed the signs of beating and slaps on their faces to the mediapersons.

When contacted, the MPA said: “I called the college on phone and asked the clerk to take the forms from the girls whose parents have come to him and are complaining about misbehaviour of the clerks.”

He claimed that the clerks refused to take the forms and said that the admissions on merit had been completed. “I asked the clerk that his job is to accept the forms and not to pass judgment.

And that I will talk to the principal later, but he refused,” Mr Bangash claimed.

The MPA said that he then went to the college and asked the clerk to accept the forms and he would talk about the admission of the remaining girls with the principal, but he refused to do so.

The clerks stated that the last date for admissions was over. However the MPA said that the college administration had stopped taking forms on the last date which led to the incident.

The senior clerk has demanded of PTI chairman Imran Khan to take action against his MPA for interfering in the college affairs.
