MURREE: The recent heavy monsoon rains caused damages to roads and houses in different parts of Murree.

The Islamabad-Murree Dual Carriageway, commonly known as Murree Expressway, is damaged at various points due to landsliding. Cracks have also appeared on the road at many places.

A heavy landslide damaged one side of the road at Khajutt due to which traffic had to be diverted to the other side, which caused problems during the weekends and holidays when the traffic increases on the road.

The expressway has also been damaged near Mussiyari due to landsliding. Cracks and ditches have appeared at various other places.

The road is also damaged at Upper Samli and Lower Samli where a huge amount of money was spent on its repair.

The expressway has been providing an easy access to the commuters from Islamabad to Murree, especially during the summer when a large number of tourists visit the hilly resort town.

The rains also damaged the old Rawalpindi-Murree-Kashmir Highway at various points. A big landslide near Abassyaan also closed the Kashmir Highway for hours. A number of link roads have also been damaged due to landsliding caused by the heavy rains.

The rains also damaged houses at Hadot, Ghoe, Ban Kotal, Ghehl and other places.
