HARIPUR: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif attended the project review ceremony of the Hazara Motorway project in Chichiyan on Thursday, where he announced that the motorway would be a 6-lane thoroughfare, and directed officials to complete the project by December, earlier than the estimated completion date in 2017.

National Highway Authority officials also briefed the premier about the project's progress on the occasion. He was told that the Havalian section of Hazara motorway is being constructed at a cost of over Rs22billion.

Speaking on the occasion, Nawaz said the constructions of roads will bring stability to the region and will pave way for an economic revolution.

The ground-breaking of the second phase of the project in Mansehra will take place soon, said the premier.

It is pertinent to mention that a by-election has been scheduled for for NA-19, Haripur, on August 16.

The implementation of energy and infrastructure projects identified under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor is taking place on a fast-track basis on both sides to translate the plans into reality.
