RAWALPINDI, Oct 12: Rawalpindi Tehsil Naib Nazim Sajjad Khan has invited the Dairy Owners’ Association representatives for a meeting on Saturday to devise a strategy for shifting the cattle- pens outside the city.

The meeting will be held at the Jinnah Hall of the Tehsil administration. This is the third call of the Naib Nazim for such a meeting. The earlier meetings failed to materialize due to dairy owners’ cold response.

Cattle owners were earlier given the deadline of October 10 for devising a strategy to shift their animals outside the city.

The Naib Nazim told Dawn that he had been extending the deadline because he wanted the issue to be resolved through mutual dialogue.

Regretting the cattle-owners’ uncooperative attitude, he said, it went against their interests as well as those of the Pindiites.

“We have made a promise that all basic facilities — such as roads, hospital and school — would be provided to them at the nominated sites,” he added.

Mr Khan said the Saturday’s meeting was be the last chance for cattle-owners to solve the problem amicably.
