KARACHI: Maryam Faiq and Hareem Anwar won back-to-back matches to make it to girls under-15 singles final in the second Young Stars ranking table tennis tournament which commenced at the Sindh Sports Board complex on Tuesday.

Maryam first disposed of Ayesha Zafar 11-8, 11-7, 11-6 and then sent Mehak Anwar packing 11-6, 11-8, 11-7 to sneak into the final.

Hareem also got off to a brisk start by getting the better of Ayesha Bibi 11-9, 11-8, 11-7 in the first round while she carved out 11-7, 11-8, 11-5 victory over Maria Faiq in the semis.

Meanwhile, the girls under-18 singles has also reached the last four round.

The boys under-15 and under-18 singles also commenced on the opening day.

First round: Hareem Anwar bt Ayesha Bibi (11-9, 11-8, 11-7), Maria Faiq bt Maria Tazeem (11-3, 11-0, 11-8), Mehak Anwar bt Maryam Bibi (11-6, 11-7, 11-8), Maryam Faiq bt Ayesha Zafar (11-8, 11-7, 11-6).

Semi-finals: Maryam Faiq bt Mehak Anwar (11-6, 11-8, 11-7), Hareem Anwar bt Maria Faiq (11-7, 11-8, 11-5).

Girls under-18 singles:

First round: Ateeqa Khan bt Maryam Faiq (11-2, 11-6, 17-15), Maria Faiq bt Ayesha Zaffar (11-5, 11-6, 11-4), Mehak Anwar bt Maria Tazeem (11-8, 9-11, 12-10, 11-8).

Quarter-finals: Nimra Faiq bt Maryam Bibi (11-6, 11-3, 11-5), Hareem Anwar bt Maria Faiq (11-5, 11-6, 11-3), Haleema Ali bt Ateeqa Khan (8-11, 6-11, 12-10, 11-5, 11-9), Mehak Anwar bt Ayesha Bibi (11-8, 11-5, 7-11, 11-2).

Boys under-15 singles:
