SWABI: Students seeking admission in engineering universities have expressed concern over delay in announcement of FSc results by education boards.

They told Dawn here on Sunday that some students had already appeared and passed the entry test of various universities, but delay in FSc results concerned them.

Waqas Khan of Himlet village said last year a friend of his had got admission in an engineering university after qualifying the entrance test, but when his FSc result was declared he got 59 per cent marks in 2nd year mathematics, narrowly missing the 60 per cent mark set by the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) for admission in engineering university in that particular subject.

Abbas Ali Khan of Maneri Bala village said last year he was able to get admission in an engineering university in Islamabad, but when his FSc result was declared, he was six marks short in physics. Similar stories were to be told by other students, who said the delay in FSc result had stressed them out.

They demanded that the result should be announced without further delay by the education boards, so they could get admission in the universities of their choice without suffering any financial losses and mental agony.

The students urged the provincial education minister to bind the education boards to announce the results on time. They also demanded of the Higher Education Commission to ask the universities to pay back full amounts to students in case they couldn’t get admission there.

TWO MEN GO MISSING: Two men have gone missing from different localities here during last few days, said police. They said the men belonged to Pirtab Banda Naro Banda village of Maneri Bala.

Zar Mohammad got registered an FIR in Swabi city police station, stating that his son, Zakir Khan, had gone to Rawalpindi before Eidul Fitr, but didn’t return home.

He said his son’s mobile phone also remained off. The police began investigation into the incident.

Raj Wali Khan, a government employee and resident of Pirtab village has been missing for the last four days. His family said he went to local Nadra office on Thursday and didn’t return home.
