Mr Shohaz was one of the founding members of the Baloch National Movement and close to its leader Ghulam Mohammad Baloch. It may be recalled that Ghulam Mohammad Baloch was found dead in a deserted area near Turbat in May 2009 along with his two comrades.

Mr Shohaz, who belonged to Buleda, had been living in Karachi for some time. He had gone to his native town last week to celebrate Eidul Fitr with his relatives. A spokesman for the Balochistan chief minister, Jan Mohammad Buledi, condemned the murder and termed it an incident of targeted killing. He called for the arrest of killers.
