LAHORE: Pakistan will participate in the World Judo Championship, subject to the availability of funds. The event is being held in Astana, Kazakhstan from Aug 20 to 31.

The squad will comprise four male and two female judokas.

President of the Pakistan Judo Federation (PJF), retired Col Rana Shujaat Ali, said that in a very short span of time the PJF had done well to enable judokas of the country to show their skills, adding: “If the PJF gets an appropriate opportunity [to help the judokas improve further] Pakistan’s flag will be on top in international arena.”

Sajjad Kazemi, an Iranian coach, will train the players for the world event at a camp starting soon after Eid-ul-Fitr.
