KOHAT: Renowned writer and intellectual Ahmed Paracha passed away here on Sunday, leaving behind a big chunk of literary work in the shape of 100 books which he wrote on various topics.
He was laid to rest in the KDA Township and his funeral was attended by a large number of people from all walks of life. He was bed ridden for the last two years.
Born in Kohat on March 3, 1936, Ahmad Paracha had worked with great devotion to enlighten the hidden history of Kohat through his writings.
‘Kohat Taarekh Ke Aeny Mein’ is regarded as a milestone towards the history of Kohat.
His documentary series ‘Qarya Qarya’ covers all the far-flung areas of Kohat with their historical, cultural, social, agricultural and economic backgrounds. ‘Apny Hony Ka Saboot’ is one of the best writings of Ahmad Paracha. ‘Academy Adbiyat Pakistan –Tarekh Aur Khidmat’ highlights the role and contributions of the ‘Academy Adbiyat Pakistan’.
Ahmad Paracha’s famous column ‘Tahreer Bolti Hey’ was very famous among the listeners of Radio Pakistan, Kohat. He also remained as a scriptwriter with the radio. Youth Artists Union, Kohat, expressed sorrow over his death and organised Khatme Quran for the rest of the departed soul.
FR SPORTS BODY: The Directorate of Sports Fata and Frontier Regions formally launched the Kohat FR Sports Association and MNA Qaisar Jamal was unanimously elected its president on Sunday.
The representatives, Aamir Iqbal and Sajid Khan, while reading out the message of the Fata sports director, Mohammad Ayaz, said that the decision had been made to streamline the sports affairs. By constituting committees the tribesmen would now be provided chance in the provincial and national level sports galas. Mr Ayaz said that sports would be organised on modern lines by constructing playgrounds, especially cricket and volleyball which were famous in the Frontier Region of Kohat.
