ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) has started preparations for the coming local government (LG) elections in Punjab.

The PTI’s national organiser Shah Mehmood Qureshi held a meeting with organisers of the party’s local chapters in south Punjab on Saturday to devise a strategy for the elections.

He said the meeting had decided that parlia-mentary boards for the award of tickets would be formed at the tehsil/town level.

The PTI organisers of south Punjab/Sahiwal division were assured that the performance of the interim set-up of the party would be reviewed, he said.

Mr Qureshi spoke about the decline of the Pakistan People’s Party in Punjab, and said the party was “dying” because of its politics of ‘Muk Muka’ and a shift from its original politics and the ideology propagated by Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.

“People are inspired by the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf because of Chair-man Imran Khan’s vision of new Pakistan and the party’s ideology,” he said.
