IS-inspired suspected militants arrested in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: Police on Thursday arrested three suspected militants said to be inspired by the self-styled Islamic State.

Acting on an intelligence tip-off, security forces raided a shop in the Shamshadu Bazaar area and arrested the three suspects.

According to police sources, laptops containing IS literature along with other documents were recovered from their possession. Also seized were documents against the Pakistan Army. No weapons or ammunition was seized in the raid.

Amongst those arrested were two Afghan nationals, Asmatullah and Abdur Rehman. The third suspect, Mohammad Ibrahim, belongs to Mohmand Agency.

A case under Section 11 Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) and Section 124 of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) was registered against the suspected militants.

The Pakistan Army has killed more than 2,700 militants during Operation Zarb-i-Azb in North Waziristan since June last year, following a deadly attack on Karachi's Jinnah International Airport, destroying more than 800 of their hideouts.

@Salman Khan if you hang on like this you will loose 3/4 population in Pakistan. It is not a crime to have picture or literature in his laptop. you can't hang for this

@maqsood My dear Brother, if someone carries a document in his laptop with abusive language against your sister or your father or your brother who protects your home (like Pak Army protects Pakistan), what will you do? You will surely hang that person to death...

@maqsood They have got IS literature and documents against Pak Army. They deserve punishment. 99.99 percent of us love our army and your 3/4 thing is sadly insulting for most Pakistanis. These IS inspired groups need to be processed through a court of law after which their fates would be decided and it looks like strong punishments await them, capital punishments too in some cases!!

@maqsood It really depends on what was the intention of material found. If it was to be further distributed to attract like minded people then it definitely is a crime and nothing short of hanging should be the punishments. We have already suffered due to a soft stance we have taken on this brewing storm. Such material can also be found in ISI's computers that were at some point analyzing it so you have to look at people's motives and what they do with it which in this case is pretty evident. Hence the recommendation of hanging would actually be a reasonable request.

they will probably either break free from jail or set free because of "lack of evidence" as is always the case .. there is no justice in Pakistan .. Law is just "optional"

@Asad well people spreading there litrature can hardly be seen as ISIS. Its like finding half a gram of cocaine in someones stash and saying that they are a maxican drug lord. As much as India wants but theres no such thing as ISIS in pakistan.
